hmm I;d say.. b4 anything you should rlly sit down and analyze this relationship u have with social medias and if youre not scared by the end of it itmeans u didnt think abt it enough for what u can do... make it as inconvenient to access as possible. delete yr accounts on impulse if u can.. uninstall d apps, add layers of locks/time limits, even if u undo it l8r thats ok do it again. fight w/ urself if u must. humans luuv convenience its what got u addicted in d first place that & dopamine spikes,, soo find literally anything else you enjoy which includes but isn't limited to hobbies. any activity, as many ov them as possible. that thing u were thinking abt fur a while or think ur not good enough to do. slow down. go outside if you can(aimless walks r a life saver. trust meh). spend time with friends/Real people, read a book/other writing, educate yourself on a topic you like. do something u have to put some effort in to get yr reward(creative hobbies /?), start a passion project maybe, play games, go explore what the world/wider web has to offer. just try and see how it goes. but dont treat it as a chore dats not th point, make it convenient to do And fun thats what yr brain likes. make it easier to do/more accessible than scrolling. find an alternative that provides you with what ure afraid of losing when u quit. dats kinda the advice u get everywhere else but thats bc it works u say ure dependent but u do realize it limits u more than anythingright ... there is a whole world out there and u r stuck on yr stupid App/Website of all places. these spaces R designed to Own u. so it Will b uncomfortable and its U that will have 2 take the first step. it may even feel like u lost a part of yrself but later on uwill realize it wsa more like a parasite. I was never big on social media in th first place but personally my wake up call was getting banned off my only platform (over 1 false report i lost access 2 my audience, friends/mutuals/customers, all the work I poured into it, my communication hub, a certain sense of comfort etc etc), I really did not like the amt of control a stranger's platform had ovr me, so I decided to create my own internet space entirely owned and maintained by me (the website yr currently on!! not the guestbook page bwaha). and while at it I lost interest in social media entirely, i hav not looked back since.. sweet to hear I'd say it depends, if you want to make money or thrive off of attention then it's nothing but a blessing if you're rather reserved and just want a place to keep your work it can get unpleasant quickly. I appreciate the praise and occasional financial support having this site live brings, wholeheartedly; but as someone who's not very interested in creating deep connections or getting personal I've had a lot of weird parasocial situations happen, as well as copying/stealing of my work. I don't feel much regarding those, but it still makes me wary of participating in online communities,, and I do feel bad for the people engaging in these things. haha I could probably go off about this but I'll leave it here thank you, anon, I wish the same to you ฅᨐฅ
